All Souls’ Day, observed on November 2nd, is a significant day in Christian liturgical calendars, particularly in the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Anglican traditions. This solemn day is dedicated to praying for and remembering the souls of the faithful departed, especially those believed to be in purgatory. It follows All Saints’ Day on November 1st, which honors all saints, known and unknown.
I gave a visit with one of my photographer friend Austin , we saw peoples lighting candles to represent light and hope, candles are often lit on the graves of the departed, symbolizing the souls’ journey toward eternal light.
Few came with flowers; Chrysanthemums, often called “flowers of the dead,” are a common flower used to decorate graves, symbolizing both the fragility of life and the cycle of life and death.
Lastly Specific prayers, such as the Requiem Mass, are recited, seeking God’s mercy on the departed souls. This involvement gave me a different thought about Christian society.
